My car parties w/o me?
Today I get a letter informing me that I now owe $60 to Ann Arbor MI for an unpaid parking ticket.
Ticket says it's an "OLDSM" car with a tag # I do not recognize. I go look at the '85 442. That's my license # allright. It expired 11/2014. I have not driven the car since before then. It's a backup crusty POS hooptie in case another car dies.
The ticket was issued 12/12/2014 in Ann Arbor.
Evidently my car is going out partying without me then??
I keep it locked lately, and I think I would have noticed the tracks in the snow if it had been driven away by some crafty idiot who took it to Ann Arbor, then brought it back.
I sent this to their web site refree:
"My car with tag 6xxxx1 has not left the driveway in LANSING MI for 2-3 months now. The license plate is still on it. Plate expired 11/13/2014 and I know it has not left the driveway since before then. I have not been to Ann Arbor in years. Evidently your citation writer got confused and wrote down MY tag number instead of the one they meant to. Conspicuously absent from the letter informing me of a "delinquent ticket" is the COLOR of my car. That's because my car was not actually there and the person opted not to guess at the color. Looks like a simple typo/ reading error, so why don't you go ahead and fix this and dismiss it and let's not waste any more time on it. Tell you what- you guess the color of my car correctly and I will send you a photo of it still covered in snow, with its expired plate. "
At first I thought it was a phishing scam, maybe they just send out letters and hope some folks pay w/o regard. The phone #'s and web sites appear to be legit though.
"for any number of unpaid parking tickets, a court order to seize your vehicle may be obtained"
Huh, even if THEY made a mistake and the "violation" never actually occurred- not with MY car anyhow.

A friend of mine got a photo radar picture in the mail. It was a picture of his car alright.
The ticket was for $180! He thought he'd be a smart guy since photo radar was new at the time in these parts. He sent them a "picture" of $180. Two days later to big cops showed up at his door....Party on!

Oh I see what you did there
good one
but, no, 442 vintage 1985, with high compression 403 engine now. OD trans and 3.73:1 final drive.
She is perhaps feeling pushed to the curb by the Dodge traffic. But the others are so fast and so pretty!
"Do you have kids?
She might be going out and partying with them when you're not looking."
================
One does not drive
one has his own much nicer vehicle
one lives elsewhere
the keys are not that easy to procure.
I would have seen evidence of it having moved
it is positioned carefully to allow folks to walk thru as needed.
NO ONE has occasion to go to Ann Arbor.
No, the car was not there
that's why they don't have the color of the car
they just looked up my address from the [incorrect] tag # they wrote down.
Confiscate my car, indeed. Be careful what you ask for.

MSU has always been known for being a partying college! A lot closer for your car to tom cat around than U of M. Plus your car is 30 years old know, a little to old to be hanging with the college crowd!
