thank you sir, my wife owned a rootbeer brown 77' when i met her. it was slow as hell!? someone told me thats when they changed the head design to smaller exhaust ports for smog? it was a beautiful car though

Well here's the deal, even in 72 they went to a lower compression motor than the older ones but by 1977 (which was the most sold Olds' year of all time) they were all smogger motors. I don't know about slow all around because both of mine were pretty peppy with 350/th350 4bbl setups. The V6 version is almost guaranteed a turd but I have seen a V6 manual tranny version. Believe it or not, once in a while a 403 powered version can be found which was available from 77-79.
BTW, both of mine were silver, the second one was auto on the floor and had black rally stripes on the hood and deck lid. Also both had the red interior (yuck)

Hey 76_cutty, you ever seen the movie Cutlass? All about a 76. It's probably on CO somewhere but here is a link:

Nice ride. The rims look good on it. That's a clean white interior too.
I had a blue 76 with white landau roof back in 83. 60/40 split bench with crushed velour interior. Sweet cruiser.
I live in Kentucky and was just in LA on vacation a couple weeks ago. I couldn't believe how many old classic cars I saw on the road as daily drivers. It would be awesome to be able to drive mine year round but, because of the snow and salt during the winters here, most people keep their cars in the garage from November til at least April.
