Media Blasting Aluminum Valve Covers?
Media Blasting Aluminum Valve Covers?
I have a pair of old Edelbrock finned aluminum valve covers
that I'd like to polish and use on something.
They're not in terrible shape, but do have a little oxidation.
I'm wondering if it would be helpful to media blast them
with fine or ultra-fine media prior to polishing.
Anyone tried this?

I have blasted M/T covers at 15 psi. with 240 grit aluminum oxide with good results. If you keep moving the risk of abrading the surfaces is very low at pressures like that. Pitting is your enemy under some of that oxidation...be careful and good luck!
