Matching engine/vin code verification

Ok so I'll post my vin and engine code I found on my car. As far as I can tell they are not matching #s. Can anyone verify this.
Vin: 3987U2Z105511
Engine code.: 32X11256

Car built in Fremont Ca. Engine from Kansas City Mi?

Check your posting of your VIN. That's not a valid Oldsmobile VIN. What year is the car?

You would be correct. None matching VIN to engine. 3G=Cutlass S. So your VIN is relatively scarce since very few 72 Cutlass models were built with the U code 455. To bad the engine doesn't match. Yes it's a 72 engine from Fairfax, but the donor car was a B body. Your transmission should still be a TH400.

Looking at the VIN, it appears your car was an early production customer ordered car.

The car is true to the build. I do have the original build sheets also. I was hoping to have matching engine numbers but that's ok it's still an awesome car. Thanks for your help.

Freemont and Arlington are the only 2 plants that commonly left the build sheets in the car when it rolled off the assembly line. I'd preserve the one you have before it deteriorates.

Sounds like a great car. I think numbers matching is good but really over rated. The more wealthy collectors live and die by this stuff but for most people, an era correct drive train does not affect the fun and cool factor of owning these cool cars.

The sheets do have some wear but I can Read all the codes and numbers. They are protected and put away.

For whatever reason the original engine is gone is moot. Someone made an effort to use a period correct replacement. Should perform just like it's supposed to.
