looks like i am keeping 3 cars

i don't want to have more than 2 Oldsmobile's that only get 1000 miles a year at most.(more like 500 at most) it looks like i will have 3 now. we have the Jetfire that is in no way for sale and i have my Rallye 350 that i had since 1990, it was my first car. one of the W-30s i picked up i planed to restore and keep but sell the Rallye 350 be justify keeping the 442. my wife did not like the idea of selling my Rallye 350 from the beginning but was willing to let me. tonight i told my 5 and 7 year old i was going to sell the Rallye 350 and they were almost in tears. they both love the yellow and hate the blue. my wife ask me to try to keep all 3 and to sell the W-30 if we can't swing having 3 cars. makes it a little harder to sell the Rallye when i have 3 girls wanting to keep it. not sure what is going to happen.

As long as the budget can cover it there's nothing wrong with having toys

That's how I look at it!

John

P.S. I remember one of the other members here describing his 1:1 scale models!!!

So it looks like most of your models are still in kit form...

Eric, I think the girls are upset about keeping the W30 because it doesn't look as 'pretty'. Wimmen never see the same values as car guys do. Now if it was all together and some hot color? The Rallye would be 'nuthin' to them. I love the look of the Rallye BTW. You have the ultimate conundrum here. And the worst nightmare of it is the 'attachment' you might have developed to both the Rallye and W30. If I was you I'd start drinking now...

i told the wife that we could put them both up for sale and the first one gone will be the one we get rid of. the problem with that is the W-30 will likely sell faster.

i am not planning to sell either one till we get most everything else sold we have now. after that i will just have to see where we are and if we can afford to keep all three. i have a very long way to go before i get to that point.

It would be a fine thing if you could keep all #3 eric!
Unless the w30 has ironclad documentation (actual window sticker) I would be most inclined to sell it and keep the 62 and the 350

Happy Motoring

Keep the Rallye... HANDS DOWN!!! Its the only way we all know you by i feel on here...

IDK maybe its just me but i like sentiment over materialistic.... Who cares about the value of a car if you dont plan on selling it? That Rallye is you Jensen just like my H/O and my Rallye are me. Just my .02 dollars there. We will suport you either way

Eric, You know how much I like your Rallye 350 and would LOVE to own it, BUT........ As I am too a THREE (3) car (actually four including the 'Vette) guy, and say IF you can, KEEP THEM ALL!!!!!!!!! If your kids and wife like them (especially the Rallye) make it work somehow. Life is short my friend and make the most of it!

If you sell the Rally, you will kick yourself later. I've seen a lot of posts by folks the regretted selling a car, but I don't remember anyone regretting keeping one. Besides, changing yout avatar just confuses simple people like me.

i have the broadcast card to the W-30 and no documentation to the rallye. i know for sure it is a Rallye but that don't count when selling it. the thing is, i don't know if i can restore the W-30 without selling the Rallye 350 to pay for it. when i get all my other cars and parts sold off i will have no money in this W-30 or the parts i have to restore it. the problem will be the $10-$15K for the paint and body and more for the interior work.

another factor... the Jetfire is going to be our spring/fall car, it don't have A/C. the W-30 would be our summer car. the W-30 has A/C and the Rallye don't.

for me it is an easy decision to sell the Rallye. i will just have to see where we are at after i get everything else sold. by that time i may be so tired of these car i will sell them all, lol.

I did that in 2010 facing 6 months of chemo (and out of work). I was worried bills wouldn't get paid so I put a 2007 Dodge Mega Cab 4x4 Laramie Cummins and a 2006 Honda up for sale. The deal was the first one sold would go...and guess what? The truck sold within a week. I have been kicking myself ever since.

Now I barely fit in the Honda (bad leg from cancer surgery) and the only vehicle I was comfortable in I can't afford to buy again. If I could do it over, I would never put the truck up for sale. I would decide which one goes and sell that one. Never let fate make up your mind for you...you'll regret it.

I would try to keep all three. You can always get/earn/make the $ to restore the W30. But you will never get another "free" W30. Also they are assets that will appreciate in value. You can always sell them at a later date or will them to the kids.

My neighbor ended up with making a similar decision 4 years ago. He has a flat *** now from all the times he kicked himself (same kind of truck BTW). He's now driving an 84 Toy with a 1.5L standard. His new Dodge is in storage because he can't afford gas for it. He paid 700 for the 84 Yota. He says his truck would go through that much in a little over a month. But this time he's not selling the truck. I've driven it and it's suweet! I know what you're missing Steve. Maybe you can relocate the seat brackets on the Honda? BTW, no matter how much you water it, it will never grow into a Dodge pickup
