That's what you get, when using Photobucket. Do you still have the images stored? Here's a reliable host: https://imgur.com

Early Rocket Days

Original pictures from a dealership in Wilkinsburg, Pa. Looks like a 1950 Holiday 88. Seems like there used to be an Olds dealer

in every town.

Great picture of raceway park. I have very fond memories of Raceway Park. You would be able to hear the cars at night several miles a way. Great part of summer back in the 80s.

I remember wandering the junk yards off route 9 looking for parts. These are all gone.

Anyone have any pictures of a 70 W30 hardtop sponsored by Hansel Olds. Its Sebring Yellow w/ black stripes... Super stocker... Anyone know who the driver was? I know this is a long shot but I own the car and would like to see some pics of it it possible...

I reached out to Matt Duffy on Vintage Oldsmobile Drag Racing Photos group on FB and he sent me these:

Absolutely great photographs to cherish. Looks like your car was running F S/A. I remember slicks and open exhaust were permitted in "stock." I ran "pure stock" and we were required to race with street tires and closed exhaust. Also, 442's ran in G stock. Add the W package and we moved to F class.
Great photographs. Front wheels almost off the ground. That's how we used to drive.

Thanks for the info and pics Mike...
I reached out to Matt and he sent them over as well...

The owner of the car @ the time was George "The Foot" Hanvey...

I never met him but its an honor to have his old super stocker...

In taking a closer look at the Linda Vaughn photo, I'm going to guess that was taken between 1979-1981. And I will further guess that the 79 H/O just might be the one I owned from 1996 to 2018. I say this as it looks like I can see a small piece of the gold anodized Hurst Hatch at the top of the car, as well as the Goodyear Wingfoot white stripe tire which was on this car at the time. The other 79 H/O's out of the factory got Goodyear PolySteel radials.

This gentleman, Dallas Verble Jr., was sponsored by Carlson Oldsmobile and raced throughout the Midwest in the 60's and early 70's. Carlson Oldsmobile was the largest Oldsmobile dealer in St. Louis at the time. These photos were sent to me by Mr. Verble's step-son after he had stopped to look at my '67 4-4-2 at a local cruise-in.

These last two pictures are of my car when it was being filmed for a Sunday Night Football pre-game segment for a game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers on 1/1/2017. It was a home game for the Lions, and the car was filmed driving around to several Detroit landmarks.

Unfortunately they lost that game too and it cost them a spot in the playoffs!

How did you come about to have your car in a Sunday night football segment?

My car was restored by a father and son in Warren (just outside Detroit), MI between 2014 -- 2016. After the restoration they showed the car locally where it caught the eye of a Lions marketing executive. Then the Lions pitched the idea of having the car drive around to various Detroit landmarks for the pre-game segment to NBC Sports and NBC bought into the idea. As a side note, this past Fall, NBC resurrected about 5 seconds of that 2017 segment and it was included in a new commercial promoting the NFL regular season opening game between the Lions and Chiefs.

Thank you very much. I have been in contact with the Editor of Oldsmobile Club of America's "Journey with Olds" monthly magazine and she has told me the story of the car being in the NFL commercials will be published in a future edition. Unfortunately she hasn't given me a projected month of publication yet.

I live in the St. Louis area now but grew up in southern Michigan and there's nothing I'd like more than to see the Lions make it to a Super Bowl, but I'm sure not going to hold my breath on that possibility???

Some pics of my '70 Cutlass from previous owners:

At the Sunflower Festival parade in Altona, Manitoba, carrying a contestant for Sunflower Queen in the late '70s.

In the snow in Gretna, Manitoba, mid-1970s.

At the American Bicentennial Parade in neighboring Neche, N.D., 1976.

They didn't. It was the opposite, actually. The SSII wheels came around 76. Other two pics are slightly earlier.

This is such a cool thread
everyone who joins should have to review and be quizzed on it.

Here my contribution, a dealership in Queens, Ny that operated at least in The 50’s.
(My full name is Peter Herbst, and I am originally from NY)
