R E Olds had a patent on his gas engine design for the Runabout.

Yes but it says gas and gasoline engines. As if they are two different things. When did they start blending fuels?

I doubt that they were blending fuels, though I see in the corner of the ad it states gas & gasoline. To my knowledge only gasoline was the fuel for these cars, and gas is slang for it. For a short time they offered electric, and he built a steam powered car even before the internal combustion engine. Does it mean white gas? I don't think so, as I have seen nothing in Olds history that shows it's use.

Here is the compilation of his documents (R E Olds)

http://www.cadl.org/answers/local-hi...ding%20Aid.pdf

For more in depth info on the man, the myth and the legend and his Oldses I would greatly suggest purchasing Setting the Pace by Helen Early and James Walkinshaw

I was on the road the other day with out my camera I spotted an enclosed semi trailer with the B.O.C logos, pretty faded. I haven't posted this one yet and spotted a few in the countryside that i have not taken pics of yet!

These pictures were taken at the sprawling Lansing, Michigan complex.
Notice the Oldsmobile Administration Building in the back ground.

Oh sorry Mike I'll fix it

The LAST one, VIN# 3N67K5M368746, rolled off the Lansing, Michigan assembly line on July 11, 1975. It was a Crimson Red Convertible with a white top and interior powered by a 350 V8.
The last one, VIN# 3N67K5X135099, to roll off the Fairfax, Kansas assembly line was on July 8, 1975.
Though it was touted as the "Last" convertible it was not as Oldsmobile brought out the Cutlass Convertible in 1990.

Not sure what parade this is from, but from the looks of the trees I'd say 4th of July of something like that

Oldsmobile 100th birthday! My car is just off camera, across the row about ten cars to the North. I enjoyed the drive around the city encircled by all Oldsmobiles.

Truly incredible show! That was my first Olds Nationals and the few I've made since have fallen short by a long shot but it would be hard to compare to that show. A number of NOS parts on my black 98 came from that swap meet.

That was one of the most amazing days I had ever experienced! I wished I could relive that. I looked for some of the pictures of that but came up empty handed. However I did find this old business card I got from a friend a while back.. For you Hurst / Olds owners out there lol

Try this Ryan! and anyone else that did not make it, I think I have around fifty photos floating around the house. It might just start a new thread when posting.

The 100th, is the one my buddy's and I talk about the most, just a great show, with a ton of cars! Somewhere I have photos stashed away. It would be nice to have the Nats. in Lansing again.

TK,

You wouldn't happen to know who this is, would you? It looks a lot like a kid I went to high school with that had the same car in 1981 or 82

Mike,
I have seen that picture on this website http://www.connectinghighway.com The name of the guy in the 71 W-30 is Paul Tortorici. This is a neat website about street racing in the New York City area. It has a lot of vintage pictures of cars from back in the day. Check it out.

Your eyes are not deceiving you! I think this bloke is from downunder, If memory serves there was a 57 98 from there. If you go to my thread Oldsmobile 100th you will see the back side of that car in the lineup to go around the city.

I thought I would share this little relic I found this weekend. My great grandma standing in front of my Grandpas 59 Ninety Eight circa 1962

Wow, that is now the 2nd RH drive 98 I've seen. There's another guy on here (Nick) in Australia with a RH 76 98....so crazy to see these cars flipped around like that!

Thanks for sharing.

It would be from the 100th Anniversary celebration in 1997. The 75th anniversary celebration was in 1972, and that's a '75 Delta 88 convertible in the photo, which wouldn't have existed in '72.
