Local Car Show
Local Car Show
Went to local car show in Tracy today. Been over a year since been to one. I think there were more new cars than old. I can see why the Goodguys limit the year cars to come to shows.
Hey at least it was a show!
Our local show, scheduled for the 1st weekend in April, has already been canceled. Governor's orders. No outside gatherings of more than 25 people. And since we usually get between 500-600 cars, that went right out the window.

I love my classic cars but my interests have wandered into sports cars as of late (in the past also) so I do enjoy the variety and difference. Mine is a ricer to boot also and I often show both side by side and and get comments like the above from all sides. Sometimes you just got to broaden your interests or get stuck in a rut. Now if I only could get my FJ 40 going again I could swing three ways.... It's good to have any car show to go to these days..... Tedd

Re van...all of the above
most any show we have around here is more of a cruise in. That said i dont mind any vehicle as longas its not a run of the mill camry etc.
at my local cruise ins ive seen tractors, tractor trailer tractors (60s vintage), motorcycles, newer vettes and mustangs, ford GT, 60-80s cars, hot rods, vans, 4x4 trucks, model Ts n As, VW vanagons, etc thats all good by me. I like checking out the other vehicles that are interesting that i may not be interested in owning or i may not have the opportunity to see up close.
i think the oddest one i saw at cruise was a late model fiat 500. I still checked out the inside, coincidentally the owner came by and it turns out he is a car show aquantance that usually brings his 60s VeeDoubleU bug....

While my car and as well music interests are limited, there is no reason that newer cars can't be at local car shows. It gets younger people interested in the hobby and most of the time the money collected is for good causes. I look at what I like and skip the ones I don't. I'll talk to anyone that comes over and asks questions about my car or even cars in general. What I don't do is expect a trophy, on average those that do will leave disappointed most times.
The factory I work at has a huge car show every year in the fall. It’s not judged, no entry fee, but always a good turnout.
I amazes me the number of people who add some colored wire wrap, mudflaps, fog lamps, etc on a otherwise completely stock new vehicle and call it customized.
On a totally unrelated subject, I did my first Power Tour back in 2001 (I think). It was the year they followed Route 66 (what’s left of it). It really enjoyed the cars. We parked next to one couple who pulled grandpas 70 big block Monte Carlo out of its 25 year hibernation, put new tires, belts, hoses, battery, etc and hit the road. I find those kinds of cars and people much more interested to talk to and look at.
Fast forward a few years, now look at the percentage of old iron verses new cars participation?Where is the challenge in driving cross county in a new Camaro or Mustang with a warranty???
Just my opinion, if your entering a car show with a née car, it needs to be something special, or modified with more than a air freshener.
