Question A little help

Just wonderin' if you guys (and gals) think $400.00 is a decent price for Edelbrock performer intake/750 carb set (used - 200 miles or so), brand new Flowkool aluminum water pump and a set of ported J heads. All for a 455. Thanks,Gery.

For me it would depend on what was done to the heads. Does he have any paperwork from a flow bench to show the improvement from the porting work?

I ask the same question. Still waiting for an answer He's selling as a package and I'm mostly wondering your thoughts on the other stuff depending on condition Thanks John.

Hi Gery
If you were to buy those items new it would be more than that. But if I were looking for a nice used intake I would hope for $150-200 range depending on how nice it looked. If I were looking for a carb I'd go with a quadrajet rather than the Edelbrock (I've used a couple of them and their OK, but I would prefer a rebuild quadrajet). I don't know the price on the aluminum water pump but if it were much more expensive than stock I don't know if the alloy metal and possibly higher flow would be worth the extra money. For a street/strip car I think a good clean 3 or 4 core radiator is more important. So to me $400 would be too much to pay for those items, and the J heads would be the deal clincher or breaker. My 2 cents John

Lightbulb Allrighty then

Haven't seen it yet but he is asking $100.00 (Summit #2151 dual plane square bore - $275.00 new. Would prefer a spread bore

If I were looking for a carb I'd go with a quadrajet rather than the Edelbrock (I've used a couple of them and their OK, but I would prefer a rebuild quadrajet).
#1411 electric choke ($300 new from summit) he's asking $200.00. Have a freshly rebuilt quadrajet That's why would prefer a spread bore intake

I don't know the price on the aluminum water pump but if it were much more expensive than stock I don't know if the alloy metal and possibly higher flow would be worth the extra money.
$110 new from Summit (#bra 1776). He's asking $100.00

and the J heads would be the deal clincher or breaker
No info other than that's what was on the engine when he bought the car Guess the whole purchase is looking like what I don't want or need anyway. Thanks John, that's the direction I was looking for. Thanks for the proverbial "smack in the back of the head" so too speak.

Gery.

The performer intake is for square and spreadbore carbs. I have one sitting in the garage. If I were to sell it I would want $175. Should be worth that. Theres no moving parts and its not like they wear out. As long as theres no cracks or stripped threads.
