Unhappy Leaky Carb?

Recently bought a reman Rochester 2GC for my '71 Cutlass. Installed and it seemed to run ok, but the next day wouldn't start.

I got it going but after about 30 seconds, it stalled and the carb started leaking gas - out the top of the barrel and from the seals around the top.

Is the carb bad, or is some setting off that's causing severe flooding??

I've played around with the choke adjustments and sometimes it leaks, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it leaks while running - other times leaks after I shut it off. Any thoughts?

sounds like the needle and seat float valve is stuck open with dirt, or didnt get replaced and is wore out

Smack it lighty. from the side, with a smal hammer - probaby stuck float, [needle and seat] if does it again - exchange it!

I had the same problem with a four barrel I got a couple of years ago. It was a reman and it did the same thing. On mine the clip that holds the float in place was not allowing it to float up so the gas just kept coming. Also the top piece was warped so the gasket was not sealing. I ended up getting a holley 600cfm.
