Last AMC Dealership
After seeing the post of the Chevy Dealer in Nebraska selling new 57 Chebbies I thought some of you may enjoy the last AMC Dealership operating in Pikeville, NC. I was down there a couple years ago and it was still there.

Driving through Pikeville, North Carolina is like driving through the Twilight Zone. It’s a small, rural North Carolina community about three hours east of Charlotte.

Rambler
Thanks for sharing that. The first car I remember of dad owning was a Studebaker. After that it was Rambler. I remember as a young kid looking at them in the showroom of the Rambler dealership in Butler, Pa. With mom and dad dealing on a new one. It seemed like we were there for hours but, we always drove away in a new one.
Good memories that is for sure.

Heck I remember seeing a brand new , black 1982 Eagle wagon (it was having a ARA aftermarket a/c kit installed, this was in Sept of 1982), with its wiring harness in a big ball wrapped up in black eletrical tape - from the factory!
I remember Larry saying to my Dad, "Who is the Joe A$$Hole mechanic who put this piece of junk together!"
I remember my friends Javelin it had a GM Distributor and a Ford Carburator and a Chrysler starter, Also the rocker arms were Oldsmobile non adjustable, we used to joke that AMC just used all the leftover parts from the big 3 to put together some cars and put leftover parts on them so the Big 3 would not have to destroy them, just a joke back then but they were not good cars as a whole.
Ahhhh the good ol days. My 86 CJ7 was the best vehicle as far as reliability I ever owned. I drove that thing all over the US, put 160k miles on it with little major repairs. In fact the only part on that Jeep that was a pain in the butt was the solovac carb. Although it was terribly underpowered the 258 straight 6 was a damn good engine. I sold it for more than I paid for it new in 2005.
I've got a 1962 "Classic" which is a daily driver. It looks like Hell, but it's got almost 400K miles on the original engine, keeps me warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and gets 24 MPG on the open road. It could have been worse.
