I owe Car Craft an apology.
I didn't read the article until after I posted this thread.
It mentions that the build happened in 2006.
That build must've happened between subscriptions.
When I pulled the mag out of my mailbox, I was pleasantly surprised.

 

They outlined early plans for the build in the Dec 13 issue.
The first e-mailed responses made the typical (X)BC and LS suggestions...Auugh!

 

Original V6 car. I followed that build years ago. I can scan the old articles if anyone wants to read them.
