It's the little things...

After putting the lawnmower away back in November, it was time once again to put it to use. I usually put Sta-bil in the gas before I put it away for the winter, but for some reason, I just forgot to do it this year. It was on my "to-do" list to at least go out and make sure I wouldn't have any issues when I needed to cut the grass.

So, it was time. Pulled the mower out of the shed and after 10 pumps on the primer bulb (and nothing else), one pull of the handle and she fired right up 😀 and ran fine.

It's little things...

I've never used stabil in the lawn mowers, gas does not go bad over the course of a few months down here.

Same here in Phoenix with E-10. The lawn mower, chain saw, and gas can may sit around for a year (and sometimes longer) with no issues. And the Cutlass sits for many months through the summer and has no issues firing up and running in the fall.

E15 does though, I drain every gas powered tool we have, otherwise we have to rebuild the carb come spring. My room mate made some good cash fixing lawmowers for people last year

I so get it. I started caring for my Dad that is 89 in June. His lawnmower hadn't been started in years. One of my brother's used to come and mow his lawn. I changed the plug. New oil. New gas. That mower starts like brand new every time. 👍

PS: I haven't owned a motorcycle in at least ten years. The gasoline these days is so not what it used to be. I would not like trying to adapt.

Where do you lucky guys live, in order to be thinking about starting a lawn mower? We just had a late season snowstorm w/ about a foot on the ground. I usually look at my mowers after April 1st here in Wisconsin's Green Bay area. We had a strong Northeast wind, & I keep the snow blower in the same garage as the Cutlass. I left the door open. Poor car has probably seen its first ever snow, being a Texas car. As far as Stabil, I believe in it. During the summer season I run a small lawn business & have several tractors & mowers, as well as other equiptment. I always use Stabil & never drain gas. Everything starts first try.

We haven't had it that cold here. Pretty mild winter overall. Last year I spent January time in N. Dakota visiting my Mother. Several times temperatures went near 28 below F. That's tough on everything. A few weeks back I cranked the Cutlass & it fired right up after about 5 seconds. Then ran well in fast Idle & dropped out later. I was very happy w/ how I'd adjusted the carburetor last fall.

It has been crazy cold here in Denver and the surrounding cities. Part of the global chilling I think. We just had the coldest January on record since the early eighties.

Cool thing about Denver etc is that the sun does come out. It was mid fifties today.

So need to post here more often...

I either drain all the fuel out of the lawn equipment & run the engine till it stalls or fill it to the top w/ race gas for the winter

Anything w/ more than 1cylinder gets C16 or C10 unled for their nappy time.

Never had a problem, I just wore up Lexy after a 5 year nap w/ a big turbo w/ no problems & a 10 mile leg stretch. Although the tires were a bit square for the 1st 8 miles.
I think race gas is better than Stabil. I have a friend who puts race gas in everything, runs it year round & swears by it. LOL

A magical place that has 120+ days above 100 degrees every year, and on those very lucky years it gets above 110 degrees for 20-30 days.

2020 was one of those with 145 days of 100* and above and 53 days of 110* and above.

I run ethanol free in my lawnmowers, and tru fuel 50 in my 2 cycles. I run that same 91 ethanol free in my Monte Carlo and my van and my 442 and my H/O.

I'd rather be hot. If you're hot, you can lie there and cool off. If you're too cold, you have to run or something to avoid dying. I am perfectly comfortable with mild AC and a ceiling fan.

I only run 100% gas in my riding lawn mower. I run it dry to store it in the winter.

I ditched the 2 stroke Pullin' Pro chainsaw I had for a Makita electric. Even changing the spark plug every season and using good gas the Pullin' Pro wouldn't start consistently. That Makita chainsaw was the best purchase I ever made for caring for my home.
