interior and exterior colors

I have been trying to confirm the original colors of my '71 cutlass supreme 'vert. The chassis service manual has helped somewhat. I have confirmed that the original exterior color was/still is "#26 Viking Blue". But the body number/style plate does not help with the interior or the top. There is a part on the plate that is supposed to list the "upper body color or fabric color". On my plate there is just a single "A" in that section. According to the book, "AA" represents a white convertible top. What a single "A" means, I have no idea.

I am 99% sure that the interior is the original. The only reasons that I am trying to look it up is because this car was restored about 25 years ago and my interior is white. The repro books that I have been looking at (OPGI and Fusick) do not list white as a color available in '71. The closest that they come is "pearl", and my interior is definitely not that.

The convertible top...I have no idea how to verify that (other than it's only 2 years old. That's when I replaced the old white top).

Any help would be appreciated.

If you don't have a color number listed on the cowl tag, does it have - - there instead? That would designate a special color at extra cost.

Don't worry about the AA vs A thing. It means the same thing, and the same issue exists for 72 Cutlass models.

Someone likely ordered the color they wanted for the interior. If your trim code says it should be pearl most folks just interpret that as being white. Legendary does have the pearl interior listed and it's different than white.

Pearl is correct for '71, some people redo their interiors in white, not knowing that Pearl is correct.
