Jeffery: I had my own Smithy mufflers (steel paks), and tried about 3 different muffler shops to install duals on our '92 CC. No luck. Finally found a shop in Balch Springs (suburb of Big D) that installed it all for $300. Sound great, and no complaints. Would certainly recommend trying to find a T/M crossmember that was notched on both sides for the tail pipes to run under. I didn't, consequently, on pile is underneath. Doesn't drag, and hasn't been a problem, but I do slow down (a lot) for speed bumps and dips in the road. Thing's such a longtop, have to slow down anyway, or it's gonna' drag either the front or rear. Good luck. She sure purrs going down the road. We will be driving her to the OCA Nationals in Sturbridge, MA in July, and getting 27 MPG on the road! Plenty of room for all the "STUFF"!

cool thanks Aron I am going to start looking into it, the 88 350 is so much better than it was when I got it with a new carb and the cat was stolen, should be even better with duals, love the sounds of the exhaust on all 3 just need more!

Pypes exhaust sells a dual exhaust kit for the 91-96 Caprices that will work on the 77-90 B-body cars. You will need to have down pipes fabricated to match your Olds manifolds, but the rest of the system should work. As Aron noted, you need a double hump trans crossmember.

A possible option for the CC would be the factory duals used on the 94 up wagons with the LT-1 Chevy engine. I thought of this setup for my 92 Olds wagon since it already has the Chev engine. Would be a little tougher with the olds engine but I would think you are close to being there....

Unfortunately, the head pipes are only 2.25" and the tail pipes are 2".

This system WILL fit a 1977-1990 B-body, however. The diesel B-body cars also had true duals (and no cats), but Walker no longer lists those pipes.

That would not upset me for a grocery hauler.... The factory system I believe would be stainless, a nice bonus if junkyard found.

I think the CC should have the double hump crossmember stock. My 71 98 had the double hump crossmember and it was a bare bones car except for a few interior options. I had duals installed on my 71 98 for about $300 (plus the cost of the glasspacks I bought for it).

I am pretty sure the double cutout crossmember ceased in 1975 with the addition of the catalytic conv.

OK, stop. I mistakenly thought we were talking about one of the 1977-1990 cars. If we're talking about the 1971-76 cars then everything I posted above is incorrect. As noted, you need a double hump crossmember from a 1971-74 B-body or C-body. Dual exhausts were a factory option on those cars, but Walker has dropped those pipes years ago. You'll either need to have a system custom-bent or you'll need to adapt a generic system such as one from Pypes Exhaust. Pypes also sells Olds-specific down pipes.

the guy at the carwash that started me on this said that there is a shop closeby that the guy custom bends just by sight - takes cars with no exhaust and does them

I need to find him
