I found the original keys from grampa's Delta 88!

In grandma's purse from the 70's, in a closet not touched since the 80's, I found this key pouch from a long-gone San Fransisco Olds dealer.

I unsnapped the pouch and saw the knock outs still in place.

I ran down to the garage, and sure enough, the key slid right into the ignition. They are the genuine originals for my survivor. Now we know where this Olds was purchased.

What a nice surprise and additional bonus for us!

I blurred the code JIC -- can someone get a key cut just from the 4 numbers??

C.M. Murphy Oldsmobile -- long gone

Yes, a good locksmith will have those numbers. There are even a few people on here who can do this. PM joe_padavano and ask if he has the time to do this for you.

Very cool.

Interesting that they put their dealer number right on the pouch.

Mr. Padavano can cut you some keys from the numbers.

I believe that is their phone number…not dealer code. We used to use letters for the first 2 digits of the phone number… corresponded to the numbers on the telephone.

Many of us remember our first phone number. My mom made me memorize it to tell a cop if I ever needed help (I started school at age 4, and we walked to school in those days, even in big cities).

My number was WAlnut 9783 (92 9783).

Love those old Olds Briggs & Stratton keys. Can confirm that after 50+ years, their precision is sorta, well, promiscuous.

Meaning the locks will work fairly easily with whatever key you’ve got…

Or maybe it’s just my cars…
