HVAC air vent balance

I haven't really used the A/C in my car ('70 cutlass supreme) since I've gotten it. It's only been 3 years since I've bought it and really 1.5 of those the car was laid up with a bum tranny.

That being said, I went to use the vents last weeks and noticed the air flow is not properly balanced. I mean not just a little but a hugely noticable difference. I seem to get a lot of air out of the center vent and the drivers crotch cooler. The pass crotch cooler and side vents don't blow much air. There is air coming out so I know they're not blocked.

Shy of an actual blockage (which I have to pull the hoses apart to verify) is there suppose to be a baffle or something to help balance the air? I have a hard time believing this is the way it came from the factory.
Just looking for ideas on what I should be checking for. Thanks!!!

Our cars never had L/R air doors the way modern cars do. If you get air from all of the vents verify that the air ducts are hooked up properly and free from obstruction. Once you verify that you can check the air doors for proper operation at the air plenum. To re seal the air doors you have to remove the air plenum.

BTW, I love the OBS Ford trucks. I own a 1986 f250 sclb 4x4, c6 with a 6.9l IDI.

Both my 70 and 71 had fairly balanced air flow. I wonder if perhaps the ducts are loose from the vents, or maybe even the ducts themselves have holes. The duct hoses are some sort of cloth wrapped around a spiral wire, and I have seen the cloth degrade, especially at the ends where the duct connects to the vent. You may have a small amount of air coming out the vent because some is leaking from the hoses.
