Humbly asking your opinion on paint color
Hi guys. I am still a little bit away from paint at this point but I'm starting to think about what color would work on my 72 supreme with no vinyl top and a very nice dark green interior. I like the interior and I had the seats recovered 20 years ago but they've hardly been used. So id like to keep the interior. Problem is what the heck goes with dark green except green, gray, black or white? Id like to do something with a slight metallic. I was thinking a very light yellow, dark gray metallic, silver, or maybe white? But to me, some colors look odd on the supreme with no vinyl top. I don't think I want to do green. Any thoughts? I would love to see pics as well. Ted (Sammy from Canada) has a really nice looking silver supreme but we were talking and not sure how that would work with the green interior.
Thanks!
Chris

I think dark grey would look nice. I just painted my 70 Chevelle Shadow Grey (GM color available in 1970), its darker than silver and it has a little metallic to it but it still has that vintage look. I think it would go well with green interior.

A cream metallic would be very nice farmer 52! Rroldsx, lol, but i just dont think i can do green again! Originally it was pinehurst green, which isnt really a bad color, just not anywhere near my favorite. Then painted over with another bad faded green, so i have to respectfully decline. my brother's 72 pontiac luxury lemans is a super nice silver/green. Maybe i need to find out what that color is.

Radiant green is a seldom seen color. Growing up, my friend's older brother had a radiant green '72 442 convertible with white top, stripes, and interior; very sharp. I have seen this color on the S and convertible body styles. Have never seen radiant green on a Supreme. Sequoia green is a '72 color, and very similar to Sherwood green, which is a '70 color. Sherwood green has a lot of metallic in it, and almost looks black at dusk. Here is a picture of Sherwood green.

Black or white or green IMO, I love the Bamboo but i dont think it would go with green interior. I did a green/green 71 Monte Carlo for my son about 15 years ago, wasnt crazy about the green interior but i used it. I painted it a green metalic that came out around 2000. I was on alot of Pontiac Grand Prix, Sunfires, Grand Am. I also painted my 65 Vette with it, it has a gold metalic and some gold pearl. Much prettier than the original 71 green that came on the Monte Carlo, did the dark green vinyl top. It was a nice car. Thats another one i wish i had kept.

I would do radiant green or white, white with dark green stripes would be sharp. Since, you are varying, you could look at the modern greens. I personally like the newer Camaro green, but not sure of the name of it.

Is there maybe a very light silvery green metallic that exists from some manufacturer? More silver than the Pinehurst green, but not pure silver? I think I could do that. My brother has a 72 Pontiac Luxury Lemans that has a color like that although I've seen Pontiac's color chips and its not on there so it was probably repainted at some point. Im not opposed to using a color outside of Oldsmobile... Someone had mentioned doing white with green stripes- Did my wife talk to you? That's exactly what shes been telling me to do but I really don't think I want to do white again. Thanks guys!

I really like 70-72s in silver pewter. With the dark green interior either silver or a dark green would be palatable say Sequoia maybe Radiant or Sherwood. There is also GM Silver Green Poly, Laural Mist, Frost green poly, Jade poly etc. These colors are somewhat silver with a light green metallic cast. Look at the 66-70 Olds color charts. GM in general had a few silver greens in the 60 early 70s. Autocolorlibrary.com

Check out willow gold metallic. I think its a '68 only color. Ive seen a couple of 442's in this color and they look real sharp.

Whatever you decide on, I suggest it have contrast. I love it when the interior isn't too close in color to the exterior.
