How many lug nuts on a 37 66?

So, the kids and I always enjoy watching The Christmas Story on Christmas morning. In the movie, Ralphie helps his old man change a flat tire. His old man tells him to hold the hubcap upside down for the lug nuts. If you listen to the audio, the old man comments and puts 4 lugnuts into the hubcap before Ralphie drops them and curses. So, was a 37 66 4 lug nuts or 5? Inquiring minds need to know.

Lug nuts

A 1937 would have 6 lug nuts.

Sure about that? Data I've reviewed demonstrates the 1937 Six had a tire size of 6.50 x 16 w/ a 5 x 5 bolt pattern.

I think most 1937 GM cars (Buick Roadmaster, Buick Special, Oldsmobile Six & Eight) had a 5x5 bolt pattern?

I'm basing that on the 1937 chevy we're making a gasser now. It had 6 lugs.

Right on. The same source does demonstrate the difference between Chevrolet (6 x 5.5) & Oldsmobile (1937).

Thanks for the pic. Of course, nowadays it seems that most people just call AAA.

4 lug nuts are enough to keep the wheel on.

Counting the number of lug nuts that clink into the hubcap is like counting the number of hubcaps that come off the Charger in Bullet.

This could be one of those trick questions. The Olds has 20 lug nuts and the Chevy has 24.

There was probably a hub cap on the spare.
