How far will you drive?

1200 miles one way on a 4 hour notice to pick up a 67 Chevelle wagon project I wanted really bad. No kids and self employed it was a little easier back then. I'd have to have few days to plan out 100 mile trip now.

L.A. to Sacramento and back (in 24 hr) to get my 66 442 convertible. Wash DC to Huntsville, AL and back (in 48 hr) to NOT get an allegedly "rust free" Cutlass body shell. Needless to say, I'm still pi$$ed about that one. Wash DC to Grand Rapids, MI and back in a weekend to get a one ton dually truck.
Unfortunately, today it's cheaper to have a car shipped than to go get it. That's why I didn't drive to Nevada and back to get my 62. At 8 mpg with my dually and trailer (plus hotels), it didn't make financial sense.

I drove from Sherwood Park (Edmonton suburb), AB to Seattle, WA on three occasions. 1700 miles return.
Drove to Lansing in a caravan for the 100th celebration, then on to Montreal and then back (4800 miles round trip). That trip was as good as the show! Met the San Fran caravan in Casper, WY and took the back roads (when we could) and the Lincoln Hwy.
Next year we're hoping to drive (with 10 other couples in old cars the backroads of the US) to Reno, across to San Fran down the Coast Hwy to San Diego , take a different route back to SF and then take the Coast Hwy north, through the Redwoods, back to BC, across the rockies and back home. Should take about three weeks. I'm trying to coordinate it with a few car shows along the way.
