The insurance is not about securing your car. It is more to do with no mater how secure it is there are people that are willing to at least try to get it. When that happens, at least it will be covered.

No one mentioned this, but I put battery disconnect in both my cars. More for ease of engine maintenance but also makes a good deterrent. Not too many thieves willing to push start a car.

All my Allstate guy wanted to know was where they were stored. He came out and inspected my garage. It's brick. There was no problem to the agreed upon value.

I used to take off the wire between the coil and distributor. Just in case.

I bought an inexpensive removable steering wheel. If I'm worried, I take my steering wheel with me (or lock it in the trunk). It's not going to stop a determined thief, but hopefully it will make them choose something else to steal.

To help prevent someone from towing my car, I usually park between two cars and turn my front wheels the max amount, then remove the steering wheel. That way, a tow truck will hit the other cars if they try to drag mine out of the spot. Once again, just making it more difficult to steal than it's worth.

Sure Jensen I know. The OP's question was tips on securing his car, not insuring it. Like I said, insuring your car won't make it more secure.

When I go to car shows I leave my iphone hidden in the car when I walk around. I even do it when I drive the car to places like Walmart. A quick login to here will find your car fast:

BTW when I really get paranoid I take the coil wire with me
This is exactly what I did the first few days before getting the Ravelco system installed. Work with what you got. Before I had any security system installed, I would leave my apartment window open to hear anyone trying to start my car and would check iCloud whenever I woke up in the middle of the night to make sure it's still there. Paranoia at it's best.

Now that I have Ravelco and the suggestions I got from this thread (a club, turned wheels, and insured for the full amount)) I feel a lot better. Thanks ya'll...you guys rock and this forum is great!

Has anyone found a GPS tracking system (besides LoJack) thad does not require a monthly subscription

A rollback tow truck is the biggest threat, I try to park where's it to narrow for them to get in. Very rare for me to leave my '65 out of sight, had it for over 39 years. Wish there was a brake line type lock, that would apply brakes, at least two more tires would be making noise when they drag it.

You can use aircraft style line locks to lock your wheels.

I think if you are that paranoid you may as well not be in the hobby. I think at that point it stops being fun. For me I don't care if my car gets stolen. It may seem horrible but its insured . If someone wants it bad enough they will get it and its happened before even at car shows where there is people around.

I'd consider a GPS locator device. You could link it to your mobile device. If someone wants to take a classic car, it's not hard to defeat most security measures, but at least you may know it's on the move and might get most of it back.
