Hot Rod run Australia 2017

* Moderators, if this is not appropriate I understand if you delete it*

I thought some of you might have a passing interest to see a run that 2 mates and I put on every year. While not Oldsmobiles, I thought the cars, scenery and differences to where you live might be of interest. Hot Rods are my thing, my Olds is just my daily car, so it's my roadster that does for me what your Olds do for you. Anyway, hope you enjoy a look into something different.

cheers flatoz

Well,

Our Annual run has come and gone. For you Northerners I thought you might like to see the 90+F temp, especially those on the East coast suffering post the snow.

This is a very laid back affair, there are 3 of us who do it all, we keep it simple and basic as well there's only 3 of us! I do the 'admin' as I was told yesterday, Wayne ( PEDDRO) does the art work, and man he does a good job and Dave (DStaig) does the catering.

Its traditional only cars styled to mid 50's and pre '41. I didn't do a final count but I think we ended up with about 35 cars in the end and about 60 people. We set a route of 130km around 80 mi. with one stop for half an hour then another 40 minutes of driving to the end point where we did a BBQ sausage lunch. Weather was perfect, roads were great ( some were a little rough) and the scenery changed several times. So here are some photos, we know you love photos...

Thanks to all who came, the three of us hope you had a good time, good drive, were well fed , and got to traverse some roads you didn't even know existed.

We spent some time on the 'Burke and Will's Track' - the track 2 explorers took in 1860 from Melbourne to the Gulf of Carpenteria. However it didn't go well for them.
Anyway, photos...

This is the poster that PEDDRO did, pretty awesome.

So we start the day off at a service station that has a cafe and some good food and coffee. Peddro took these photos as I was dealing with sorting people out, he helped too but went to get some pictures for this thread.

Ok,

some driving shots. Well this year it seems it was a choose your own route as very few followed the map! But that's ok as we all made it to the end and had a feed. So I will have to ask others to post on the road photos as we never had more than 6 cars behind us, so not much variation in my photos.

So here are a few showing the varying countryside.

we pulled over at a monument hoping for others to catch up, this was on the Burke and Will's track, seems this was the birthplace of flight in Australia in 1910! the things you find on dinky little back roads.!
