help 73 Cutlass question

I made a bet that I should not have that 73 Cutlass had more than 1 style of tail light. He says just this one.

Am I wrong?

Is this all there was in the whole 73 A body line as far as tail lights go???

1973 Cutlass Tail Lights

There were two types of tail lamp lenses used on the 1973 Cutlass. The Cutlass Supreme (AJ body style) had a vertical chrome strip on the lenses. The 442 and Hurst (AG body style) had a rocket emblem on the lenses.

I wonder what I was thinking of? It must have been the diff in 74 / 75 Supreme vs S or something. Getting older by the minute

Don't be too hard on yourself. I think you're splitting hairs here.

To me, a different "style" of tail light is something different from just a different LENS in the taillight. If all the taillights on '73 A-body cars were vertical like in the first picture, then my answer would be yes, they all have the same style, even if some of them have a chrome strip on the lens and others have a rocket emblem on the lens. The question is, are they interchangeable on the same car? If yes, they're the same style.

So you need to tell us what you meant by different "style."

I've seen examples of cars where the style of tail light differs depending on whether the car is a two-door or four-door because the curve of the rear fender from the door back to the rear end varies slightly between the two body styles.

For instance, we once owned a '91 Acura Legend four door. Great car, but one of the taillight lenses got cracked. Not knowing any better, I went ahead and bought a taillight for a'91 two-door on ebay. Much to my surprise, it didn't fit.

See the photos below.

1991 Acura Legend two-door

See how the taillight wraps around to the side on the four-door but is flat across the back on the two-door? Never occurred to me that there would be a difference between the two. I know it now.

To ME, this is a difference in style.

I think you need to ask an Acura FORUM this question...
