One of those guys hit the nail on the head about zip codes. I can vouch for regular car insurance being more expensive here b/c of all the damn deer crashes.

Looks like some of those guys don't review their policy close every year, since some of the comments are about finding things they haven't authorised or have coverage somewhere else.

I don't grumble though. ACI is still cheaper than insuring them thru a mainline insurer.

Why do you believe that Scottsdale has anything to do with it? In an interview, McKeel Hagerty said that ther would be no increases due to the Scottsdale damage. They insured about 25% of the cars there. I just renewed mine with them in March, with no increase. Many on the vette forum said that they had no increase as well. Now, that being said, Michigan insurers (all) have increased the premiums due to the catastrophic claims pool being low, and this will increase my daily driver rate by over $150.00 per year, which sucks, considering that I have not had a ticket in over 20 years, and that I am laid off.

Something that I just remembered after my last post. When I first went to Hagerty to insure my Olds', the rate that I was quoted was $390.00 per year, but they informed me that it would be lower if I registered my cars with the year correct license plates, due to how the rates for the Catastrophic Claims pool were figured in regards to vintage vehicles and their lower yearly driven miles. I changed to 1969 and 1971 plates, and had them registered with the State of Michigan. My rates now are $239.00 per year. Could it be that some of the Vette guys in Michigan are running regular plates rather than year correct?

My policy went up I can tell you that. One more and I will start shopping around. There are others who insure classic cars very cheap for weeked drivers. :>(

This is why I'm not for opening up the borders for insurance policies.

I think each state should have it's own licensing and rates.
If you live in a high risk area for say Hurricanes like Florida, it shouldn't affect MY rates in IL.

If the Florida offices can't remain profitable and stay in business, they close up
shop (like State Farm did IIRC recently) and it doesn't affect the rest of us.

actually I'm in Florida and was told by HAGERTY that the claims made througout the Whole USA is what makes the Policys go up. By the way were Hurricane free for 6 years. I've never made a single claim with HAGERTY. That is what should make your policy go up plain and simple. I shouldn't be held responsible for what goes on in( Cali-Forn-Ya-Arnold-) etc! etc!

I'm not knocking Hagarty I have used them in the past but for the last 4 cars I have used Grundy and been extremely happy with price and service.
