Raising Compression one point or so.

Hello, have a stock '76 block adding rebuilt E heads. How much shaving of the E's would generate a point ratio increase. I am not interested in changing pistons at all. Thank you for any information that will garner success.

I don't think you can mill the heads enough to gain this. By then the head would be unstable and unusable. Sure you could go from 8.5 to 8.6. But you are not going to get from 8.5 to 9.5 by doing this.

.090 is the most I've heard and still be able to use the head.

Have you considered decking the block as well to achieve your goals? This of course will lead to shorter push rods and possible machining of the intake manifold or intake side of head ....and thin head gasket. I'm still not sure you can get there.

Negative on the block decking. Will have the heads cleaned/trued enough to make them even. This motor will be a cruiser-cruiser. Cam, intake, duals, possible Hedman shorties (C-10 avatar) and it sits very low-regular headers are not an option. Thank-you for reply.
