Hey guys, I'm clearly new to the forum and wanted to get some opinions from y'all about my new to me car. I've only had it about a month, I'd like to give everyone a good look at it, so if it'll help I'll make a YouTube video and post the url on here.
Here is what I know for sure
1976 olds cutlass supreme
It's got a gold painted rocket 350 in it. It's sitting up higher than it should and I honestly can't figure out for the life of me why. I've never owned an Oldsmobile before so it's all new to me. It doesn't have the waterfall grill,it's got a slant nose. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, and feel free to correct me if I say something wrong. It ain't gonna hurt my feelings.

I have since removed the after market tach. And the kid that had this pulled the original radio out and junked it with a single din.

That's all I have so far, I'll do the video later today when there is more sunlight in the sunshine state.

 

Looks like a nice car. Take some pictures of the front and rear shocks and springs so we can see whats going on there.

 

I think more bowling ***** would solve the problem.

 

I'll just have the trunk looking like a supply warehouse for bowling alleys. I took a video for y'all I will post the link in a minute when it's done uploading. I kinda rushed because the skies are about to let loose down here.

 

Welcome !! Another 76, Looks to be in decent shape. I'm thinking the PO may have put station wagon coils in the car, or possibly air shocks in the back. New front coils will push these cars up in the front. Then the rear looks low unless springs are changed out .

If anyone knows where I can find interior parts, for the 76, please let me know. All I am finding is the older body styles and body parts for this gen

 

Donor cars. Junkyards. The post '72 Cutlasses get no support in the aftermarket for body and trim parts. Mechanical parts, no problem.

 

A good place to start looking is The Parts Place or Original Parts Group. Depending on what interior pieces your after you will have to find some good used. You could post a parts wanted here in the appropriate forum, many members here may have what your looking for (Bret) Paladin and some others here usually has parts for our cars.

Welcome... looks like a lot of custom work has already been done to the interior... What interior parts are you looking for?

 

The radio bezel, the wood grain accents, and a new dash and maybe a new clock, I'll have to see what I can do with this one

 

Nice, i have one thats exactly same body model. Yours look to be definitetly sitting higher than mine. What size are your wheels? 15", 14"?

 

I would look into patching the holes below the opera window prior to interior work if it were my 76.
The water will be running into both sides of the rear quarter. That can lead to more problems.

I'm still toying with a bondo patch or cut and paste. Bondo is almost certain to give me fits in the future, but is much less costly

 

I would really do a quick bondo job/ tiger hair fiberglass on it, add a little spray bomb paint that matches as best you can it would certainly help keep the water out.
Complete body and paint isn't cheap especially when dealing with rusted areas.
These 76-77 cars are great to work on, nothing is to difficult always lots of room to work on them, be it interior, engine bay or underneath.
I've had many years of good times working on my 76, made it all worth it.

That's a Cutlass S, not a Supreme. Looks like a nice car to work with though.

 

I would guess that it's set up for 20-24" rim's. Just need to lower it back down. Good luck with your project!

Agree on that.
This car was most likely set up for large rims given the ride height and some of the interior touches lend itself to a custom job at one time or another.

I'd go at those problem areas based on time, budget, skills and if you are driving it daily or not.
Stopping the water should be priority if outside .
Replacing the dash is a big deal. How far gone is it?
Chip away and see where you want to go...

These are fun cars to drive and the fastback design remains way cool to this day.

I get compliments on it daily, I love it. I have got the bondo to fix it, I'll post after I get it done. The dash is pretty bad, pro wasn't taking care in making sure the car stayed original. He spray painted it. I just can't find any interior parts for it. Just takes time I reckon. I posted a tour of it on YouTube to highlight the problem areas.

 

Like the others have said. Search the classifieds on the forums here, craigs list and ebay for the hard to find interior.
DVAP out of Arizona has some good donor cars. Their website isn't bad to search, they list the cars they are parting out, then call with a list of interior items.

Hard plastic trim if you can find that isn't dried out can be cleaned and repainted to the color you need. Seat backs are available on the parts place under a 73 pontiac lemans I think it was? I had to buy my set camel tan then paint to phantom white.
