Got my new personalized tag today!

I run year of manufacture plates in Indiana on 3 cars, one of which has the plate with which it started. Doesn't cost more, but I do have to send in an affidavit with each one each year with the renewal and keep the "real" tag they send me in the trunk. It also confuses pay by plate cameras, I have learned.

Yup. 8 characters in the Old North State, and only a rear tag to fool with.
Virginia lets us have 7 characters and have to run a front plate. State Police are pushing for rear plates only but it's not getting any traction in the legislature.
One of my Pontiac friends' wife had a powder blue 75 GrandVille convertible. She had NC plate "DROPATOP" on it for years. The Pontiac bud had "HEAPFAST" on his 64 389 Tripower Grand Prix until the kids came along and the money had to go for more important things.
The Oldsmobiles have either YOM or state-issued Virginia antique plates, mainly for cost reasons and not having to renew them every year. The daily driver Fords have personalized Virginia SCV plates but you have to know my family history to decipher them. However, I'll gladly explain them if you ask!🙂

I used to have NOTA442 on my Cutlass, and NOTASUV on my Vista. Then found out about correct model year plates here in Michigan ($35 charge for as long as you want....). I left the NOTA442 plate on the front until I saw a pic of a current plate with that # on another Olds. So those plates are hanging on the wall in my shop.

Thanks Hydramatic! I'm a military history buff and had a 35-year career as an Intel Analyst in the DoD. I never had a desire for a personalized plate, but when I was able to get the plate name I wanted, plus the Gadsden Flag design, I just had to have it. Seems appropriate to see the words "Don't Tread On Me" on the back of a 4-4-2!
