Gas Price Gougeing

All I would like to say is taxes are good. It may hurt now, but the benefits out weighs all the other issues that come from not paying taxes. Here in Italy most people don't even have to pay taxes and is shows. As far as gas prices, things have to go south before we as Americans make changes to make it better. I look at it like this some people earn more then others whether they worked hard to get it or it was passed down to them. When we have more we automatically assume more responsibility. We all need to do our part to make OUR country a better place for our children to grow up in.

P.S. Thank you for all that you are doing in service to your country. I mean no disrespect to you or any one who wears a uniform.

Hey Normy, if low income wage earners are taxed at a higher rate they will work less. Thereby paying less tax. This was proven by John Maynard Keynes and Alan Friedman and is simple economics. If you make more money you advance into higher brackets, not lower. If the government takes away your incentive to work harder and therefore make more money via higher marginal tax rates they collect less total gross tax reciepts and encourage tax shelters and the like. Stick to Oldsmobiles. Your knowledge is infinite compared to mine. When it comes to Economics, stay home.

Yeah, must have. Apparently I'm not as clever as you.

I have an idea,
Insted of the govenrment sending us some paultry "incentive check."
Why doesn't Uncle Sugar divided up the 700 Billion [from the bailout proposal] among its 217 Million [adult population].
We could all pay off our mortgages and be debt free and could say "screw it"
Sorry my calculator can't do the math to confirm.

That would only be about $3,000 each.
It is probably better to spend it on golden parachutes for Wall Street.

z1135ss I think what Norm is suggesting is that the post in question was a joke. At least I took it to be one.

In any group of people, there is always one who has no sense of humor.
Now, we will have to find a replacement.
