Garage door opener

Has anyone installed a garage door opener in a classic oldsmobile? I have a homelink garage door opener and was looking for an idea on a installation area.

How big is your remote, because if small enough, just put it in your ash tray. I retrofitted my garage door with a DEI(car alarm company) kit whose remotes are the size of modern car entry clickers. Car also has a dinky remote entry Crime Stopper alarm system. Pretty sweet, as key no longer has to go near an outside lock, including the trunk. Most remote alarm systems are multi channel, so could surely combine the two. Nice thing about the DEI rolling code garage door system, is easy to add more remotes later, and is three channels. House also has an automated X-10 remote lighting system, with small remote I never use, but simple to turn on house lights from outside, if wanting to. Had all this stuff long before Home Link came out, and have no use for Home Link at all.

I have the home link system in one of our newer cars. When you want you can disable it incase someone breaks into your car. I suggest putting it in the glove box or the console glove box so you can lock that incase someone breaks in you can lock that compartment.

Here is an idea for a more custom built-in remote:

Some of the fancy rearview mirrors had them built-in as well.

Rob that is a great custom stock looking mod. I think I may give that a try if it doesn't work then I will put it in the console. Thanks everyone for the feed back I will let everyone know how it turns out.
