It was fun but time to move on

I will forever be a Jetfire guy and still have my wife's Jetfire but it was time to move my restored 4 speed car on to the next owner. It is headed to Costa Mesa California and will be in the Singleton Collection. This car took me places I never dreamed and sure was fun. The restoration, the shows I took it to, Leno's place, magazines and so many other cool experiences with it are priceless.

I very much enjoy restoring cars or bringing them back to life but sadly I can't stand maintaining them and cleaning them. Most people don't know just how bad I despise cleaning cars and also how badly I hate working on cars. Anything a car needs after it is restored I consider work and hate every minute of it. Some weird mental thing I guess.... All that said, I feel I have done all I wanted to do with that car and at this point was just a liability to me and taking up valuable space in my garage. If money was not a factor so that I had the space and could pay someone to take care of my cars there is no way I would have sold it. I am thankful for where I am at but God did not bless me in that way.

So on to my next adventure that is coming soon. I am also still collecting parts for another future Jetfire restoration. I want to do one more Jetfire but it has to be just the right car. I am very picky on what I want in a Jetfire. If I were a 63 guy there are several out there but I want a 62. I will also be restoring the turbo systems for people in the future.

Beautiful car Eric, I’m sure you were sad to see her go. I agree with you, keeping them clean and tidy is a pain in the butt. It’s like folding laundry.

Some guys do love the restoration process and do great work like yourself. Best thing for sure is it is going to collection that will take care of it. Yeah maintenance and cleaning vehicles is a PIA. Cleaning the Challenger is aggravating in the dust bowl we live in. If my Olds becomes shiny, another annoyance.

Eric, it is important to know when to say when in so many areas of life. Congratulations for your success on many levels. I know I’m not the only one here who has enjoyed following your pursuits and appreciate your passion! THANK YOU for sharing so much and kudos to you for providing information and advice for others here so often. CO is blessed to have many members like you who ‘pay it forward’ by sharing their expertise and knowledge. That is what keeps me coming back to CO after having to move on from caring for the 71 Cutlass Supreme convertible I enjoyed for a number of years.
