Jetfire number 4, Another adventure

I have been looking for a 62 f-85 or Cutlass parts car for when we restore our 62 4 speed Jetfire. Well I found one but it is a Jetfire instead, EVEN BETTER! We hammered the final deal today. This is a 62 Jetfire but it is far to gone to restore. We are headed out to Chattanooga Tennessee tomorrow after I get off of work. We are trying to talk ourselves into an extra day to detour over to the Smoky's but not sure we will. After taking days off for the World of Wheels show last week I had better be back to work on Monday.

The kids and my parents are all excited because the kids will stay with them for a couple nights. I guess this can be my wife and I's Valentines getaway, lol.

That one does not look to be a bad deal. It has been converted to the cross flow radiator also.

Congrats, have a safe trip. Don't hesitate to holler if you have any troubles as you pass by. Take your baby doll to the Smokeys, they will be plenty days to work.

That is some pretty country. If you get close to Lynchburg go take the tour of the Jack Daniels Distillery and be sure and have lunch at Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House.

I've been seeing a lot of cars where we moved to now that are in barns and under tarps outside. Makes me wonder what Oldsmobiles lurk.

Good luck on your trip. Don't forget to weld that trailer a rear hitch so it can pull another hauler. Cause I know you. HAHA!

Turn the gutted shell into a straight axle gasser patina and all with a turbocharged 394. I want to do it to a 61 but this one will work.

I do think they styled those so much better than the 63's. I see Jetfire emblems! Hope you had a fun trip.

YEP! Jetfire emblems are very tough to find. They told me the trunk had not been opened in 20 years. I pulled the back seat out this morning and found two more 63 Jetfire emblems in the trunk.

Great news, I assumed this engine was not any good when I got the car last year but I just got it fired up. Looks like it is a really good running core. Maybe even better. I will do more testing before I pull it out.

A red car with a blue interior ? Some people had weird tastes back then.
" Too far gone " ? I've seen much worse cars restored .

It is actually silver but is very dirty. I think the dirt and light was messing with the camera.

I've always thought these cars were so cool. Can't wait to see this back on the road.

I'm in the process of helping my brother with his project of a 1960 Nash Rambler American wagon. He's decided to ditch the straight 6 and do something different. With a little convincing on my part the plan is a 215 aluminum V8. Olds engine of course!

They'll always remain Oldsmobile engines, despite the patent getting sold. Your brother could opt for the larger Rover casting. Here, another sleeper:

... an aluminium 4.6-litre Range Rover V8 with twin turbos and EFI......We spotted Adrian at WSID and after running 10-flat the previous meeting, he was hoping to cut into the 9.50s this time around...

Lol, those old Volvos were the cars of the useless rich stoners at my school after being handed down from their parents.

Very nice work, Eric! Such an unusual car, it's great that you are saving it.
