NOS 1966/1967 W30 Cam and Springs

NOS 1966/1967 442 W30 Cam and Springs just sold on Ebay tonight for $620.00. Anything special about the Cam or springs? Since these are internal parts....I did not think they would bring so much money. Any other make or model use these springs?

Thank you,
Scott

no magic in the springs. comp cams sell's a retro w-30 cam 308-308 advertise duration. 233-233 @50 and 474-474 lift on a 113 LSA. if your looking just for the same sound and idle this one would be good. if your looking for more power there is a lot of better more modern cams out there.

Saw those. Frankly they are worth more in the box as "collectibles" than in an engine in my opinion.

Any chance of printing that article large enough to read? I tried to enlarge the print, it gets too blurry to read.

It's perfectly readable on my computer. Click on the image and it opens up.

Here's a PDF version, in case people still have trouble reading it.

That was actually a bargain, came across the one below recently. Same cam no springs.

At the end of the day, it's the camshaft for the quickest most powerful factory Oldsmobile of all time.

Matt, as Joe's suggested if you expand the pic rather than the entire page it's definitely clearer.

Yeah, but that wasn't all due to the cam. Keep in mind that the 66 cars were lighter than the 70 cars, despite the larger engines and more radical cams. At the end of the day, it's a 308/308 cam. What would happen if a 66 W-30 were re-tuned to use a 328/328 cam.

And more to the point, is it worth paying nearly $1000 for an NOS factory can then putting it in an engine where no one will see it? An aftermarket cam ground to the same profile could be had for a fraction of that cost, and would perform the same and also wouldn't ever be seen.

I cant argue with any of that, but it definitely has its place in Oldsmobile history and lore.
