Would you guys break cam in with one of the springs out (double springs) i have a set of stock 72 cutlass springs also. Or just leave them both in.

Depending on the lift of the cam, the stock springs might go into coil bind, so I wouldn't use them for that.
A lot of people pull the inner spring to do the break in, but I have never done that. I set up the springs for the correct installed height, and then run the engine at 2000 RPM for 20 minutes. Do an oil change and was on my way. I've never had an issue doing it that way.

Are they really dual springs or is it a single spring and a dampener?

Also am looking for a good alternator setup. I think they make a one wire ac delco. And you dont have to worry about the stock external regulator?
