Fuel tank vents, where do they go ?

Got a 3 vent tank but don't see all 3 lines making it back up front, car was butchered by previous owners over the years. Not trying to necessarily put it back stock but trying to make sure I'm safe. So looking for help as to where they should go or if its safe to vent them to the atmosphere

What car do you have?

On my '67 Delta, which has two vents, they don't go anywhere. The hoses just terminate after about two feet and are fastened up under the car above the tank. There are a couple of little clips for them to attach to, and they are just open to the atmosphere. The idea is that the vent opening be well above the top of the tank so that no fuel can escape that way.
