Found pictures of my first car

This is what started my love of oldsmobiles, convertibles and the color burgundy. The year was 1981 and my older brother told me to give him my saving so he could pick out my first car. He came home with a bamboo 68 cutlass. Six months later he took me to the body shop he worked at and told me to find my car. I walked by the Burgundy convertible 20 times before realizing this was my car. Talk about a great brother. I had this car from junior and senior year of high school and totaled it on graduation night. It was a great car.

It was my stupidity - I decided to plow through a set of construction signs (remember this was the era of the Dukes of Hazard). One came for the windshield and I swerved into a telephone pole. The car was replaced with a brand new mustang GT that got totaled 6 months later and after that my 1st of several 83 h/o's

Cool picture and awesome memories. But I'm not sure I want to hear what happened to the H/Os.

Sorry to hear of the untimely end to some of your cars. Brings back bad memories of my first, my 67 Cutlass was lost to a curb on an icy morning by a friend who was driving it.

The 83 HO got traded for an 84, the 84 got traded on a transam, the transam got traded for an 87 442. During this period I also had a 70 442 hardtop and a 70 442 convertible I was restoring. I also owned a couple of more 83 h/o's. The only one I truly regret getting rid of was the one I picked up in 2000, it had sand interior and a astro roof - can't imagine too many were built that way, and best of all it only had 11K miles.

Good story and nice you to still have that photo. I'm on the lookout for a picture I took on the day I bought my car in November of 86. Haven't seen that photo in years. Its has to be here...somewhere.
Happy Oldsmobiling.

Frisbee_k9 I did a lot of racing back in the day and was very reckless. The 84 H/O I had was driven from the dealership to the shop I worked at and had the original motor yanked with 20 miles on it to have a 70 455 motor jammed in. Funny part is 15 years later I picked up an 83 H/O that had the same thing done to it. It was used as a drag car and was had the motor, transmission, rear axle, and interior pulled out with only 50 miles on the odometer. I bought the car with 3K miles on in in 2000 and reassembled it back to stock

I too as a teen was reckless. Busted for reckless driving /drag racing in a stock 350 ‘70 Firebird loss of license 3 months so I broke down engine and installed a Ram Air IV cam, bored .40 and got caught a second time loss of license 6months and bought a bike. Now with the ‘68 442 455 bored .60 I’m a little cautious to drag anyone.

I wrecked my first 72’ Cutlass in 2002, never stopped loving Oldsmobile’s since then.
