Flooding problem: 1986 Silverado

Buddy has the above vehicle with a 305 & a 2 bbl carb.

It often floods and breaks down while driving, and sometimes doesn't shut off when he turns they key (car shudders, motor sputters, etc.). Sometimes it's several hours before he can restart it.

Carb was rebuilt by a pro a 6 months ago but this is a new problem.

It also revved too high at idle, which he did adjust the carb and fix that but the other problems persist.

What should he be looking at ?

possibly the mas airflow sensor is dirty or an oxygen sensor. Try cleaning the mas with ispropyl alcohol or cleaner designed for it not wd 40 or carb cleaner those will fry it. Check the usual as well like timing and spark plugs keep us informed. cheers

Coud be as simple as a vacuum leak, too!
Try tightening the carb bolts!
