Flooded garage....

was heading out the door for work yesterday morning in the dark when I stepped off my landing into my driveway into 6 inches of water
Alll I could say was oh Sh@t. ran back into the house and opened the door into the garage and saw 3/4 of my garage under water.

Now my is Car is still on a VERY low body dolly look over to see that I`m about an inch away from the bottom of the car. It`s a good thing my garage is high in the back. My seats a couple of trans. boxes of interior parts are sitting in the back corner and water is still climbing. I run and open the back door of the gargage heading to my shop and start grabbing stuff to get it outta there

I finally got everything out except for the body which I pushed back into the corner. I looked outside and the monsoon was finally letting up thankfully because it is now approaching the door into the house!!!. I called a buddy from Roto Rooter and he was there in about 1/2 hour and started flushing my perimeter drains Got it done in about an hour and we ended up at the front right hand corner of my house.... No cleanout to be found for my system.. so I started digging and low and behold what do I find....... A Farking gravel pit basin for my whole drainage system....

So the long and short of it is my perimeter sytem is done....... I`m gone for vacation on a plane as of this Sat coming. The worst part is the front and back off my house are in concrete with a side driveway out of pavement.... All I can see right now in my head is a cloud of concrete dust as I cut everything up to get the mini Ex in to dig everything up and rebuild it all

Farkin H#ll I`m looking at atleast 10 to 18 G`s to redo everything so there goes my car money.............And to think I thought I finished the house reno`s this summer

That's terrible! At least you were there when it happened, or it could have been worse! My husband has dug up the yard in several places through the years and put in drain tiles and ran drains to the far back yard where there is an existing drain system put in by the township. Our yard is low and we still get standing water in places. As he puts it, "the money pit always wants something." (meaning the house)
It's a never ending job!!

Sorry to hear that Wes. Glad you were able to get things out of harm's way. I know that's a really unpleasant thing to face. Good luck getting things all squared up. Peace of mind is invaluable.

Sorry to hear about the water problems. My sister and brother live out in Courtnay and they said they were getting lots of rain there. Been a real different year out in B.C. from the hot and dry summer to this.Hope every thing turns out for you , I had a foot of water in my basement a few years ago and still have to make sure I have a backup sump pump in case one quits. My hobby was woodworking and my shop is in the basement. Lost some things but mostly just a big mess to clean up.

As a friend of mine said

"A man's home is his hassle"

Hope everything turns out.
