Fender frustration
Recently finally learning the difference in 70 and 71-72 fenders. I glanced over to my poor Rallye and saw that it has a 71-72 drivers side front fender. This does make sense though since now I can understand why the car had a repaint a very long time ago. The part that sucks is now I need two of these driver side 70 fenders since my wagon has a pretty well junk dented one right now on it. The $ ranges I have been seeing is $180-220 each for fender and usually they still have the lower dog leg part rusted through (like my wagon). Luckily I still have a repairable passenger front on the wagon since that dent isn't too bad. So anywho it just kind of chaps my hide a bit. I am thinking the wagon will get painted first of the two and just thought maybe I should use the fender off the Rallye on it but I guess I will have to buy one since now I would wear myself out thinking of how incorrect I just made the car.. What would you do? Seek out a cherry 70 fender for Rallye obviously but what about the wagon? It will get 350 Olds back in sooner than later maybe this year.

Thanks buddy, yeah there is local guy about 1-1/2 hours away that has two 70 DS fenders but he wants $200 and $275 for them and I cant do it right now. On the flip side a local yrd has a loose 71-72 pass side one for 150 that is very straight but with rust at bottom. If I run the wrong DS one on the wagon I could grab this matching pass side one for the wagon too so it will match LOL , at least I wouldn't have to do any dent repairs

I have two fenders. One off a supreme needs skin patch but brace is solid. Vista fender is nice but you have to fill trim holes. I'm near OKC and visiting Kevin ruby later this spring if your other connection does t work. My prices are similar on 70 only fenders. Pm if interested.

In case you are not aware, alot of early 71s had the flat fenders without the ridges. It was a running change during the model year. I mention this in case you find any junked 71s, that they may be worth a second look. Both my 71s have the flat fenders. Good luck.

You mention making the car "incorrect". In the 90's I changed a few little things as I wanted them because after all the car wasn't that special( not even a 442). Well now 20 years later and the car has been restored it is a little more special and I have been putting back to original for much higher $$. So now I have bought a rough 70 Vista driver. This time I'm not changing anything to incorrect because it will probably be more special in the future.....

that's not the only difference. Even if that works or you don't open the hood, the wheel opening area where the inner fender attaches is different between 70 and 71/72.
