Fan spacer..

Hi all,
working on the 71 442, and that car came with no shround and I believe a 4 blade fan, but right now as a 6 blade and a fan clutch,
my question is what would be the stock dimension (or ideal) between the front of the clutch and the rad ?

Thanks

The fan placement needs to center the fan in the shroud opening, half in and half out.

Ok thanks, but for now I did remove the shroud that came from a chevelle and the fan was not centered at all, was about 1 inch in the shroud, and so ugly !!
Will try it like this to see if the temp is not worse.

Thanks old cutlass

A clutch fan works best with the shroud, with no shroud I would run it 1 1/2 away from the radiator.

I have a collection of spacers, different thicknesses. Let me know if you need one. I might have to find them, lol.

Thanks for the offer, I will machine one to have about 1 - 1½" gap to the rad to make test and will see after. I will need about 1¼" spacer to get the correct clearance.

Are your spacers factory stock or custom ?

Thanks again

iirc they are all factory parts. I did a brief search but summer is not the best time to do an in-depth search in a Vegas attic.

Don't get too hot for now. I'm doing test and if I need something stock I'll contact you.
Thanks
