Exhaust upgrade

My '72 Cutlass has a 2" exhaust with factory mufflers, also standard manifolds for dual exhaust. Is there any HP gain by upgrading to a larger exhaust and performance mufflers without upgrading the top end?

Probably not anything you would notice. Just put a nice set of tubo's on it and you will move way up on the cool meter.

You might consider installing headers on it. They are supposed to add a significant amount of HP. Then again, it might be difficult to tell the difference with your rear end dyno.
