Regarding copyright. Unless you are in a business to generate substantial profit/revenue from the copyright material(s) of an entity other than yourself, a limited venture of copies among friends is not copyright infringement in the eyes of lawful copyright material I don't believe.
OK. See if this works. If not I can take one based on your background and angle guidance. Thanks.
I'm thinking that should work, if not, Norm will let us know. At least now your car is in the que to get on the poster if it happens. Thanks for wanting to participate.
Chris
I have my eye on members uploading images of their cars. When I have several more I'll create/modify another poster to upload moving forward. Y'all need some images of 4-4-2 vehicles.
Make certain you do as I asked. I am not going to guess what your car label should be. I don't fancy having to take a poster apart to add what I've asked for from the beginning. Now is the time to make certain you have your label correct.

I am not a lawyer, nor play one on TV, but we spent several days on this topic in my business college courses. Copyright infringement is basically based on someone using music, art, or other original works without the permission of the copyright owner. It's somewhat similar to trademarks, but also a bit different. There's no hard and fast rule on where that red line actually is with copyright infringement, because there are instances of "fair-use" for individuals for things like debate, educational use, criticism, and other fair-use criteria. You may claim fair-use, such as copying a magazine article to hand out to students for use in your science class on the basis of using it to prove/dispel a scientific claim, etc., but if there's commercial or financial gain to be had, the fair-use argument can get weak real fast. Think way back to when they were fighting pirated CDs and DVD's. Then the big Metallica lawsuits over music on Napster. Anyone remember that debacle?
Usually, if you re-create a poster for yourself, to use in public while you keep your highly valued original at home in a safe, then you're probably ok. But churning out say, 25 of them and selling them for $50 each and it only cost you oh, say, $30 to get those 25 copies, then your fair-use argument will probably be flushed down the toilet. And the major factor would also depend on whether the original copyright owner wants to pursue their legal options for remedy.
This isn't to Chicken Little anything here. Just saying copyrights have their place for a reason, and there's always a big "depends" you need to keep an eye open for.
You could contact Brad Bishop (creator) directly and ask him if he has a hoard of these. He is the editor of the newsletter for the National Antique Olds Club. In addition, he had done a poster featuring Hurst Olds/SX models as well as 50’s era cars.

Correct that Brad Bishop created these and still has the rights to them. Reproducing them for sale cannot be done without his permission. The OCA logo is also on them and cannot be used without the OCA's permission. Lastly the Oldsmobile logos, 442, etc are trademarked and owned by GM and need to be licensed through them.
I have had some discussion with the OCA to see if these same posters could be reproduced, stay tuned. Or of you have other ideas on what type of Olds posters you would like to see through the OCA, send me a PM.
Factoryhotrod - That was me (Chris Nixon) who contacted you about the poster. I PM'ed you, but I was so excited you had an extra, and in such a rush to get back to you, that I didn't see you had put a price on it. I'll take it for the $50, plus the shipping. Please rsvp to my PM with a total cost and how you would like to handle payment. I do not have a PayPal or Venmo account, but my wife has both, it would come from Dawn Nixon. Thanks, just let me know!

I have exchanged a few emails with Brad Bishop over the past few days and he has informed me there is no one and no place, that he knows of, that has a substantial stash of the 4-4-2 posters. He did tell me there has been substantial discussion among several National Antique Oldsmobile Club (NAOC) members recently about doing a reprint of the poster, which was last printed in 2004. I informed him there is also substantial interest from members on this forum who would like one. He told me he would definitely contact me if they decide to move forward with the reprint effort, so stay tuned!

I’ve acquired an original sign that I’d like to put up where these posters have been displayed since new. (Not in direct sunlight). The 442 poster was signed by the graphic creator Brad Bishop) I would sell the set of posters in 2” black frames safely packaged within the lower 48 for $250 plus shipping. If no interest, I’ll post in the sale forum.
