Ever hear this about 1970 Cutlass pace cars?

Of those 358 Cutlass ragtops, a scant few — only about 60 — were propelled by the smaller 350-cid, 315-hp engine. “The rest of them had the big 455 in them,” Ken says. “These are a lot rarer, with the 350 in them.”

Oh, you're welcome!

But my reason for posting was due to the owner's claims about the 350 vs. 455. I have yet to notice a 455 pace car, and considering I know one 4-speed car out there, I don't think the auto/Hurst was standard.

Anyone?

The book "Oldsmobile Muscle Cars" by Holder & Kunz (not by a long shot the most correct book about Oldsmobiles) says all 358 Cutlass' were 350's. I've never heard of the Cutlass Pace Cars coming with a 455. I looked at one about 15 years ago & it was a 350. The Canadian sold 4 speed that you reference was a 350.

BTW is the grill correct? I checked a few google images and it seems like there's pics of both for the Cutlass

Yet another example of someone trying to make a less desirable car into something "rare" to justify an unrealistic price. Notice how every single ebay ad for a Sport Coupe (post car) now uses the word "rare" in the title? Newsflash: they are rare because they were less popular when new. That doesn't make them more valuable now.

The 1970 Pace Car replicas came as either a Cutlass Supreme convertible with the 350 4bbl motor or the 442 convertible with the 455. All Cutlass Supreme versions came with the 350. All 442 versions came with the 455.

Clearly the Ninety Eight four door in another thread that can't sell needs to marketed as "rare"...
