Can I hear an "AMEN" brothers and sisters?

There's a lot of "unsung" heroes out there (Joe Padavano and our beloved Admin Dan "Oldsguy" come to mind) that are an extreme wealth of information. They spend their time here helping those like you and me that are trying to learn. They correct misinformation without snarkiness and ask nothing in return.

...and there's all the other unsung heroes that provide what they can and don't berate the "n00b".

...and those that know how to use the SEARCH icon or politely ask rather than demand an answer.

I hate to make this a beer commercial moment, but "I love you, man!"

THESE are the reasons I frequent classicoldsmoile.com.

Keep coming back, guys....you ARE wanted and needed and appreciated.

FWIW

Ditto on the comments. I still consider myself a 'noob' and will for many years. I purchased my 1st ever Olds as a retirement gift to me and my family (ok, I admit it was mostly for me). I was not looking specifically for an Olds, just came across her by accident (Craigslist) and almost missed the chance to ****** her up. That was nearly a year ago and because of the awesome information and support from this site, I can proudly drive and display her.

Thank you Classic Olds!

Thanks everyone, and don't forget that C.J. helps us with moderating as well (I am just a moderator....). I too like the friendly nature of this site. I am quite sure there are other places that provide more or better technical information; provide better coverage of all models and years (we are a little weak with the newer stuff but there are quite a few of you that are now here that have helped that); and places where you can really get good info on "muscle" stuff, but all-in-all I think we do pretty good here.

BTW...

I got a email that I need to address.

I am certainly not meaning to elevate those two above anyone. I could mention 70Wcars, 442 Harv, and pretty much everyone on this board as "good guys". Of course there's always exceptions...but they are few and far between.

The point I was trying to make, as I think most of you have grasped, is that this is a great board because almost everyone here shares what he can without belittling or condescending.

We may not have the big boys like Bill Trovato (a great guy and the fastest Olds driver in racing) and others like him, but it's a good athmosphere here. That's why I volunteered to be a Mod here. (I don't have to be a referee at the fights!)

Thanks all.

C.J.

Wink

...I remember back some 8-9 years ago the days of many going from 4_2.com to ORO and now to ROP. I have been along for the ride...more of a casual user than a "heavy hitter." Like anything I suppose, you take things with a grain of salt . Bottom line here for me is I like what I see here. I am a new member and like the fact there is the potential for another great site with many things to offer. Time will tell the success or failure of this site, as some of us have witnessed over the years as with other sites. I do recognize some names from over the years such as 442 harv and Joe P just to name a pair. It's nice to see certain folks out there giving unselfishly what they know...to those who ask. It would be my hope that over time some of the folks I've met or communicated with from ROP would join this site too. Guys like Dave H, 70 Post, Junior Supercar, or Ron D. to name a few. There are some sharp folks out there who fit that bill and I too am greatful. So to those who run the show and those who contribute, I say thanks . As for me, I'll help out to the best of my ability. I don't know everythig, but I do have a couple decades of being a gearhead to my credit. That being said, I finish by hoisting my glass and saying "cheers and good luck.....and we'll see ya on the board." Dan.

Post Forum statistics

This is a responsive forum.

I did a little arithmetic, and found that there have been 504 threads in the last 2 months, ignoring the classifieds. Of those, only 50 have gone unanswered.

50/504 = 9.92 percent
That means that 90.08% of people get their questions answered (or at least addressed) on this forum. That's a whole lot better than a lot of forums I've seen.

Well, I need to try harder then. I hate for anyone's question to go un-answered, even if it is just a response that acknowledges the question and tries to make a recommendation (because I don't have near all the answers, not even 20% of them).

I am liking what I see...I found this site recently from a comment on ROP and decided to join. It is much friendlier and I like that. I will have to learn to mind my manners here as I have been know to twist tails in other places.

In my book, anything the promotes Olds can't be bad! Hopefully I will soon have some pix to share with you guys, my frame is being sandblasted and then (if the price is right) the car is off to get new floor and trunk pans, a liitle body work and ....painted!

Thanks for a great site gang!!! I love the spell check option!

I have learned almost everything I know from this site, and it is one of the best out here, If it weren't for all the hard work of others I'd be nowhere with a busted car

Special thanks to Dan + C.J. for keeping this an excellent place to go when in need of help of any sort,

thanks guys,
Robert

I too want to give A BIG THANKS...I do try to use the search before asking and love gaining knowledge by not just asking questions but reading other posts as well. This is the only forum I am participate in and wish I had more knowledge to give but like I said enjoy learning. There have been several people on here giving me great insight and I hope to gather enough knowledge to give back to the forums and lend a hand to other members.....I also want to say to anyone in the Seattle area or will be comming to the area this is a great place to befriend other people that love our olds as much as anyone and the beer "commercial" that started the post makes me want to have one with other olds luvrs...So if anyone wants to have one let me know...Maybe local shows or meets would be a way to meet and if everyone posted what shows they will attend maybe others on the forums would follow... But again THANKS!!!!

An old original post, but it is very much worth resurrecting!

In my experience, this is the best classic Olds forum I have ran across or used.
And many thanks to those who are behind the scenes, fighting off the multiplying spammers and porners!
