On the other hand, the Google Earth photos of my farm don't look TOO different...

You all can just wait for THAT auction.
Quite a back story on this. Rumors of it's existence are the stuff urban legends are made of but few have laid eyes on any of the cars since the salvage yard was closed in 1953.
I plan to take a friend who is 76 years young so if any CO members make the trip be sure to give me a shout.
I included a link for those that may be interested.

Oh, used to be a salvage yard. That's crazy been closed for that long and everything just sat. That's a walk back in time. I would love to go, all depends if I am gone to work somewhere by then
Those kind of experiences can be invigorating or depressing or both at the same time. With shallow pockets I was always left standing in the back of the crowd drooling as the guys with the bucks would bid on the nice stuff.
It's about a 450 mile trip for us one way
Salvage yard is a scary aspect if you intend on an original restoration. Finding and buying the missing parts could take a whole lot of time and a huge amount of money. The street rod crowd are better buyers for what looks like 30's vintage shells. When my dad restored his 36 3-window ford every part was either a thousand or fifteen hundred, it didn't matter what it was. That line-up of partially stripped cars looks to me like a lifetime of chasing original parts or perfect parts for a street rod. JMO
