engine number decode

engine number decode

Hi can any one decode my engine number for me please it is 35R137093 I think it is a 350 well it should be

If that is the vin tag number that won't do much for you. Get the casting number off the block behind the water pump and next to the oil fill tube.

Hi that is the number on the engine block by the power steering pump the vin number is 336870m256038

OK, so you have a 1970 cutlass with a 1975 engine. What we need to tell you what the engine is will be the number that is cast into the shelf behind the water pump next to the oil fill tube.

rallye 350

Hi the car is a rallye 350 whether that makes a difference I don't know

My guess would be that it has #8 heads on it, unless they were swapped out at the time of the engine swap.

There is no way to tell that from the VIN. You would need the build sheet or broadcast card (I think. I know that works with W30 and W31 cars) and it should have - - for the paint code on the plate that is riveted to the firewall.
