If that is the vin tag number that won't do much for you. Get the casting number off the block behind the water pump and next to the oil fill tube.

OK, so you have a 1970 cutlass with a 1975 engine. What we need to tell you what the engine is will be the number that is cast into the shelf behind the water pump next to the oil fill tube.

My guess would be that it has #8 heads on it, unless they were swapped out at the time of the engine swap.

 

There is no way to tell that from the VIN. You would need the build sheet or broadcast card (I think. I know that works with W30 and W31 cars) and it should have - - for the paint code on the plate that is riveted to the firewall.

 

This is the VIN derivative for a 1975 model year motor from the Arlington, TX assembly plant.

And as noted, a 1970 Cutlass Holiday Coupe from Lansing.

And that's a 1968-1976 Olds 350 block casting number.
