emblem foam adhesive

Finished cleaning up the outside emblems of the "buttless". Scraped all of the old foam strip adh. off. What is out there that I can use to put them back on. I know there's 2 sided tape, but it's 2xs as thick as the factory stuff. Does 3-m have anything? I prefer not to use a "in tube" adhesive.

I think 3M Molding Attachment tape is what the factory used, but remember they had something to die cut the tape to fit the emblem exactly. You should be able to get it at about any parts store.

I bought a tube of the 3M trim adhesive that you mentioned at either the local auto parts store or the Ace Hardware store. It is commonly available and works well. Just remember that it is a contact type adhesive, you apply some to both sides and let it start to cure and get tacky, then WHAM! stick the emblem on and you better get it right the first time. You shouldn't need anything to hold it in place but if you are nervous about it you can use some low tack painter's masking tape.

3M Scotch-Mount tape is what you want. It comes in .045 and .030 thicknesses and in different colors.
Stick it to the emblem then use a razor blade or hobby knife to trim the edges and openings then remove the backing and stick it to the car. Wax and grease remover followed up by alcohol to clean the surfaces , don't touch the sticky part of the tape with your fingers when applying or it won't stick where you touched it.

Thanks guys. I'll probably head over to 1 of the local body shops. I only need about 2 ft. total, if that. Can't see paying over 40.00 for what little I really need.
