Electric Choke 1971 Cutlass

I am installing an electric choke on my 71 cutlass and I want to know which power source you guys think is best to wire the choke into. I know you need a 12v source that is only on when the car is in the run position but I was told that some sources could cause problems with other components or do not give enough power to the choke. Doe anyone have any suggestions as to what power source I should splice into to connect the choke?

I used one of the 12V ignition sources on the wiper motor. I can't remember what color wire it is.

You should probably use the method for powering the rear defroster.
This way the power is available only when the engine is actually running. My Fords electric choke is wired this way.
I used this method to power my heated seats - here is how I did it:

Here it is installed - looks stock and wired just the way the factory would have!

One way the factory did it was to use the field (brown) wire from the alternator, since that is only powered when the alternator is turning. Unfortunately this wire doesn't have enough capacity so the factory used it to switch a relay that was connected to full time battery power (through a 20A fuse). See attached.
