edelbrock performer and OAI
Contact Dr. Decal (Mark Cornea)....he sells a metal adapter with a foam seal that sits on top of the metal air cleaner base. I believe it's made to work with a Performer and factory OAI hood.
It's a very nicely made piece....painted or powder coated black, etc...quality part. Ask him if he has a version for your application...I think that's why the guy made them in the first place.

I'm installing an Edelbrock Performer on a 1971 442. The manifold is approximately 1.5 inches taller. I would like to have the ram air hood still be functional. I don't want to reinvent the wheel and am sure others have went through the same situation. Just asking for ideas on what others have done.
Thanks

- Maintain....I'm doing some checking..
We offer a top that when cut down will allow the use of a Performer on a 1971. The rear portion is all that needs to be removed, but you can improve air flow by removing more of the center section as well.

Joe - Greg's (Super442) piece looks pretty good and by the time you cut/trim it, it won't look much, if any, different from the piece I was thinking about (I believe the piece I was thinking about is completely open inside the foam seal as Greg's would be if you trimmed out that part).
I'm waiting to see if I get a return phone call and/or a return email so don't have any addtn'l info just yet.

Joe - the guy that makes the metal OAI adapters for use with the Performer sent me an email. His name is Rick and his email address is:
72hurstolds@comcast.net
He may have contacted you already but if he hasn't then send him an email and he should be able to give you info, pics, pricing, etc on his adapter. I've seen one and they are well made.
