Hello i install a new oldsmobile dual gate shifter and cable. 3 speed shifter and 350 transmission. I had replace the original cable to the new cable And nothing is match up when i cange gears. Park work fine. Do i need to change the cable bracket on my transmission if so what does it look like because that was the only thing i didn't change or can the cable be adjusted.

 

What type shifter did you remove?? Did you have an original cable with the other shifter?

 

It had the original standard 3 speed floor shifter and cable. The original cable i think was short for the dual gate

 

Some adjustment on the cable at trans bracket but not much, where the cable attaches to the shift lever, takes 1/2 wrench to loosen, can move about 1/4in maybe you can get the setting you need?? Good luck.

 

You need to ensure that you have the correct cable for the Dual Gate. By your description of having a longer cable now, it may be correct.

There is an slot on the transmission end of the cable that allows some adjustment.
